The winner in the area of Temporary or Agency Workers is Tor 2 where 31% of its entire workforce are temporary 3 month contracts. This was confirmed by the Tor 2 Employee Forum Notes of 25/04/2018, as can be found on the following link.
Rising number of temporary Devon jobs leave many without job security
The GMB has major worries on how you can provide a service when one third of staff changes every 3 months. The commitment of Tor 2 to its staff says it all when it is more interested in making profits than it is in creating stable work force. This is just one example of poor management which has forced the hand of the local authority to take services in-house.
With discussions beginning shortly between Tor2 and Torbay Council, the union calls for an end to agency staff and for workers to be given secure employment prospects through permanant contracts. This would be in the interest of workers, users and Torbay Council itself.
